Roy C. Mielke

1906 – 1977

Roy C. Mielke was born on July 8, 1906 in Chicago, the son of Otto and Emma Flamm Mielke. He attended the University of Illinois where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and graduated in 1929 with a degree in Business Administration.

He married Marie Franz on October 21, 1953. Mr. Mielke started employment in 1933 with the Beloit Corporation where he filled many positions. At the time of his retirement in 1971 he was Executive Office Manager and the Coordinator of the Paper Machinery Division Policies and Procedures. He served as a Rock County Supervisor from 1972 to 1977 and was a member of the important finance committee. He resigned from the board in January 1977 because of ill health.

Roy Mielke was an active member of the First Congregational Church and the Beloit Country Club. He served four years on the Board of Directors of the Greater Beloit Association of Commerce and was President of the Board in 1960. He received the Man of the Year award in 1958. Mr. Mielke was a past president of the Boy Scouts and the first chairman of the Red Cross blood program. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the United Givers Fund, of the Visiting Nurse Association and the Children’s Service Society.

He served as secretary of the Beloit Police & Fire Commission and as vice chairman of the Board of Vocational, Technical & Adult Education District Five for Rock and Green Counties. He was a member and past president of the Beloit Corporation Quarter Century Club. Mr. Mielke died on June 28, 1977.
