Helen M. Vigh Miller

1916 – 1981

Helen Vigh was born July 16, 1916, in Beloit to Louis and Elizabeth Sunny Vigh. She attended Beloit schools and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a major in economics.

She worked for the YWCA in Akron, Ohio, and then Green Bay, Wisconsin, before marrying William C. Miller in 1941. The couple had two daughters.

In the early 1940s, Helen was active in establishing the League of Women Voters in Beloit and served as a board member and secretary. She also volunteered with Head Start and was a member of the PEO Sisterhood and the First Presbyterian Church.

She served on the Survey Committee of the Friends of the Beloit Public Library in the early 1960s and on the United Givers Budget Committee. She was president of the Beloit PTA Council and of the Beloit YWCA Board of Directors.

When her husband died in 1964, Helen became the president of Louis Vigh Tool and Die Firm located on Portland Avenue.

Helen Miller died on July 14, 1981.
