Mrs. Cora Pollock Armstrong

1871 – 1937

Mrs. Armstrong was born in Shirland, Illinois November 6, 1871. She was a prominent musician and supervisor of music in the elementary schools of Beloit for twenty years. Due to her leadership and intense personal interest, music had been made an integral part of the educational curriculum in the Beloit schools. She served this leadership during two periods, 1902-1911 and 1926-1937. She had a charming personality and disposition and was a most accomplished musician. She was the president of the Beloit Treble Clef during the years 1925-1927. She was the originator of the Junior Treble Clef. She was organist in numerous churches and also choir leader. She was a graduate of Beloit High School, a member of the Presbyterian Church and Eastern Star.
