BELOIT, WI – On April 8th from 4-6pm, the Beloit Historical Society and Literacy for Life are collaborating for History of Beloit Play Day! The free event will be held at the Beloit Historical Society, 845 Hackett St. and is open to the public.
At the event, there will be a screening of the PBS documentary ‘Hometown Stories of Wisconsin: Beloit.’ Student volunteers will run an activity and reading station that feature activities in both English and Spanish and books written by Beloit College students. Visitors will also be able to explore the Beloit Historical Society’s exhibits with a guide. The goal of this event is to provide a fun and welcoming environment to share the history of Beloit with the community and bring the community together in a new way.
Literacy for Life is a non-profit organization aimed at developing a culture of excitement around childhood reading, verbal expression, and mathematical thinking in Rock County. This program believes in making reading resources available to all families in Rock County and empowering parents to find time in their daily routines to practice these skills with their children. Literacy for Life centers building foundations for a bright future in the day-to-day work that we do.
The Beloit Historical Society, founded in 1910, preserves and shares the rich and diverse heritage of the Beloit community to enhance community pride.
