Carl G. Seifert
1909 – 1973
Carl Seifert, a life-long resident of Beloit, was born on August 13, 1906. All of his life he was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, sang in its choir for many years and served as a councilman. He was an active member of Myrtle Lodge #10, IOOF, serving as a past noble grand and a past District Grand master.
Mr. Seifert returned to his native city of Beloit much of his time and talent. He was appointed and served with distinction on the Zoning Board, the Citizens Advisory Council and the board of Blackhawk Technical and Adult School. In 1970 he was named secretary of that board. He was Cubmaster of Hackett School for several years, receiving the Cubmster Key in 1949. His scouting activities extended over a distinguished service to boyhood in 1964.
Mr. Seifert served on the Board of Directors of the Beloit Chapter of the American Red Cross. He distinguished himself as the donor of over eight gallons of blood. Mr. Seifert was employed as a machinist for 35 years by Fair-banks, Morse and Company, retiring in 1971. He was active in labor circles, Serving America, Local 1533. He also served on the Wisconsin CIO Board. He was a member of the Fairbanks Morse Quarter Century Club, as well as its president. To the children of Fairbanks employees, he was Santa Claus for many years. Carl G. Seifert served his church, his native city and its people well during his lifetime of 67 years. He died on November 7, 1973.
