Dr. Isaac Buckridge
1850 – 1911
Dr. Isaac Buckridge was born on May 23, 1850, in Rochester, New York and came to Beloit with his parents in 1859. As a young man he taught school in Roscoe before and after graduation from Beloit College in 1876. He received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Chicago in 1882. He served as city alderman three times to 1905. He was council president and acting mayor and was the first official to promote permanent street improve-ments. He did much to get a municipal sewer system. He was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church, was active in Masonic affairs and participated in numerous civic projects. He died in 1911.
