While Martha Washington and Abigail Adams are commonly mentioned, what about the lesser-known figures like Deborah Read, Mercy Otis Warren, and Sybil Ludington? How did these remarkable women shatter stereotypes and pave the way for future
generations?

Terry Lynch has been a professional actor performing on stage, T.V., film, and radio in the Chicagoland area for more than 40 years. He has also appeared regularly on the WGN Morning Show. He and his wife Laura, a certified educator, began Histories for Kids / HFK Presents more than 20 years ago as a way to bring history to life for all ages.

America 250Told from the perspective of an owner of a “Safe House” in Illinois, hear how safe houses were used as a stopping point for the slaves to gain rest and nourishment before going on to safety in Canada. Several safe houses in the immediate Chicagoland area will be highlighted.
