John Wong
John Wong has volunteered his time and efforts to help people locally and around the world.
He served a leading role in the local Kids Against Hunger program, which has provided more than a million meals to impoverished residents of Cameroon, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua and the Philippines. He has worked to coordinate young students, veteran volunteers and other community members in filling bags and packages with non-perishable meal kits through the Kids Against Hunger program – a program he has been leading since 2008.
He and his wife, Becky, volunteer anywhere between 10 and 20 hours a week to help various organizations, at board meeting and helping to plan events. He has served on the board of directors for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Rock, Green and Walworth Counties. He also served on numerous committees for the School District of Beloit over the last 15 years. He served on the Stateline Community Foundation Scholarship Committee. He also currently serves on the Beloit Health System Board of Trustees and was formerly a member of the Beloit Health System Foundation Board.
Wong was born and raised in Beloit. He is the son of Gim and Marion Wong, and Gim is a past inductee of the Beloit Historical Society Hall of fame. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1984 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater, majoring in marketing and education.
