Lyle Kendall Munn
1885 – 1972
Lyle Kendall Munn was born in Beloit on May 6, 1885, the son of Eugene Van Dyke and Mary Kendall Munn. He graduated from Beloit High School in 1903 and from Beloit College in 1907. Lyle Munn became affiliated with the First National Bank and Trust Company (then the Second National Bank) on July 1, 1907. He served the bank in various capacities including the position of cashier and was appointed vice-president in 1924. He also served as senior trust officer for many years and held the office of Director.
In addition to his regular occupation at the First National Bank, Lyle found time to become involved in many college and com-munity affairs. He served as Secretary and Agent for the class of 1907 and was Treasurer for the College Faculty and Alumni Club. He was on the YMCA Board of Directors for 39 years and served as Recording Secretary for many years. At the time of his death on August 9, 1972, he held the longest continual membership in the YMCA – over 50 years. Lyle Munn was a member of the War Loan Committee in World War I and a past president of the Beloit Historical Society. He belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Beloit and to Morning Star Lodge No. 10 F & A.M. Mr. Munn was a particularly loyal member of the Beloit Rotary Club. He was its president in 1939 and was treasurer for many years. In 1971 he completed 29 years of perfect attendance.
