Roger G Bryden
1942 – 2014
Born on December 23, 1942, Roger G. Bryden was a lifelong resident of the Beloit Community. When he died on June 8, 2014, he was survived by his wife of 50 years, Vicki, and son,
Scott Bryden, and daughter, Christine Lawver.
His smile and handshake were well known by hundreds of members of the community. As president of Bryden Motors, he moved out of the public glare to preserve large parcels of
downtown Beloit, and remove at his own expense, depreciated property. Bryden Motors was founded by William R. Bryden in 1945 and Roger joined the business in 1962. Roger’s
children continue the business’s family tradition.
Mr. Bryden served as a board member of Blackhawk Bank, and the Beloit Boys and Girls Club. He was a leader in the effort to build the South Beloit Boys and Girls Club facility. He was a sportsman and active as a sponsor and member of the Rockton Boat Club, Star Zenith Boat Club, the Newark Gun Club, the Beloit Rifle Association, Whitetail Unlimited
and Pheasants Forever.
His personal contributions to worthy causes always were guaranteed. It was estimated that at his visitation, more than 3,000 people waited in line for up to three and a half hours to
express their love, affection and appreciation for the work of Mr. Bryden in making Beloit a better place.
