Sarah Sally Kramer

1926 – 2016

Sally M. Kramer is best known in the Greater Beloit Area for her 57-year career with the American Red Cross in Beloit. Kramer was born in 1926 in Rockford. She attended Muldoon Catholic High School in Rockford and she was a 1944 graduate of Beloit High School. After graduation, she began her work with the American Red Cross. Under her leadership of the local chapter of the American Red Cross, people in the area received disaster relief service, training in CPR and First Aid and were able to donate blood so others could be helped
in times of need.

During her career, she received many awards for her work in service to others, including the Beloit Daily News Headliner Award, WBEL’s Woman of the Week, Beloit Booster Award,
the American Red Cross Distinguished Service to Humanity Award among others.

Kramer started many local programs to help others such as the Red Cross Christmas Day dinner for the shut-ins. In the 1950s, she implemented the first Red Cross civilian blood
program in the area. She developed first aid, CPR and lawn safety for kid’s community education programs.

She married Walter Kramer in 1955. She was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church and served as a lecture and was an active member of the Marion Guild. She passed away on July
4, 2015. She is survived by a son, Jerry, and a daughter, Kathy.
